This is the family of Charles Theodore Bisch when they lived at 1111 N. 4th Street.
Charles was born in Springfield to a German immigrant father, Phillip Bisch, who established a furniture business. The son learned cabinet making while also pursuing other business adventures. By the turn of the century, he had turned his attention to undertaking. The Bisch Memorial Funeral Home has been in operation since 1896.
The Bisch Memorial Funeral Home had been on North Sixth Street, East Capitol, and where we know of it today since 1950, at the corner of Fifth and Allen.
