Charles Link (1875-1942) was a veteran of the Spanish American War and served in Cuba. In 1921, he was issued a building permit for a six room bungalow at 1621 Lowell for $3,500. He and his wife Cora would have a long residency in Hawthorne Place. Cora, in fact, would be at this location for 48 years. Charles’ employment was often in restaurants and eateries, as you can see from above. He died in 1942, followed by Cora in 1969.
