Ines Hoffmann (1905-1994) was a woman of many achievements. She was Phi Beta Kappa at Wellesley College in 1925. She was a member of the order of Coif at the University of Chicago Law School in 1928. She practiced law with her father, Bayard Catron, and with her husband, Fred Hoffmann, over many decades. She was the first woman corporation counsel for Springfield. She was twice elected commissioner of accounts in finance, She was vitally involved in Springfield politics and affairs throughout her life. Her brief residence at 1624 Lowell was just the beginning of a remarkable and accomplished career. And – she raised four sons.
