One of the most appealing features of Hawthorne Place is that almost every home has a front porch. The subdivision was founded and it grew at a critical time in domestic architecture. The bungalows, the latter additions of Hawthorne, were among the last 20th century building types to regard the porch as essential. When the American foursquare of Chris and Michelle Oliver needed a new porch they decided to build one that complemented the size and scope of their property. And they are doing most of it themselves.
